The company I worked for over the summer, Northwestern Mutual, entered me into this event. I was visiting for the Annual Meeting as Northwestern Mutual's headquarters are located in Milwaukee. The event was enjoyable, but a bit too easy. The best part was the scenery as you are running along side Lake Michigan and passing through serene parks. You also run by exquisite architectural work (the museum being the best). Milwaukee is a beautiful city and afterwards, went to many of their famous breweries which is always a nice treat!

   

I am a novice when it comes to triathlon events, as this was my second one to participate in, but my overall experience was amazing. I participated in the event as a "relay partner" which means each person does one leg of the race. I did the run which entailed a slight incline the the whole trail until a steep drop the last mile. Thousands of people descend upon the San Luis Obispo area as a spectator, participant, or worker so there are many people cheering you on or lending you a helping hand. I must say, however, that my team was "backed" by the lead sponsor of the event (at the time) Jamba Juice. We didn't have to pay a dime to register, camp out for two nights, or purchase food which I heard can be rather pricey. This might have skewed my overall experience since it was essentially free, but with that said, I would do it again in a heartbeat.
